The musical "Hjælp søges" in Copenhagen (Østre Gasværk), The Premiere April 12th 2015

The musical ‘Hjælp Søges’ premiered on 12 April 2015 at Østre Gasværk Teater in Copenhagen. The music and lyrics are written by ABBA legends Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus.

The young danish singer and actress Sara Viktoria  sang in "Hjælp Søges" the song  "Den jeg vil være" - a beautiful song by Björn and Benny that sounds very much like an ABBA song.    

 

The original swedish version is on Spotify here. No english version has been released.

The musical premiered in Sweden (Stockholm) in 2013 and Denmark in 2015 (Copenhagen). 

In May 2016 Benny Anderssons Orkester (BAO) released the song En natt i Köpenhamn (A night in Copenhagen). Who knows if the song was inspired by Björn and Bennys 2015 visit to Copenhagen.

My father, Per, was lucky to sign a contract for an ABBA concert before they became very popular, says Pernille Rasmussen.  Søren Peter Nielsen, a resident of Nykøbing Falster, attended the concert and—luckily for us—brought his camera along. Below, you’ll find some very rare photos from this event. Sound engineer Claes af Geijerstam clearly remembers the stage setup in Nykøbing Falster. He explains that the HAGSTRÖM PA (visible in the first photo to the right) was arranged so that the instruments had their own speakers while the vocals had a separate set. ABBA concert in Holstebrohallen in Holstebro, Denmark on January 15th 1975

On January 15th 1975 ABBA played a succesfull concert in Holstebrohallen for 800 people. The concert was organised by Ernst Trillingsgaard. The capacity in Holstebrohallen was 3000 people, but at that time ABBA was almost unkown.  Ernst Trillingsgaard remember, that Jerry Ritz from ABBA´s record company i Denmark called him, and asked if he should try to get ABBA to Denmark and Ernst Trillingsgaard agreed and booked a concert in Holstebro.. Thomas Johansson from EMA Telstar produced this and all other ABBA tours, and Thomas also accompanied ABBA on several of their early promotion trips. When Thomas Johansson after the concert in Holstebro called Ernst Trillingsgaard, and asked if he would like to have dinner with ABBA in the Restaurant Laksen, Trillingsgaard refused. He told Thomas Johansson that he was going to have a beer with two journalists from the local press instead. ABBA concert in Vejle, Denmark on January 14th 1975

This concert took place in Idrættens Hus in Vejle and was organised by impresario Steen Wittrock from Odense. Support group and live band was The Beatmakers. - We only sold about 800 tickets for this concert, which was rather disappointing, Steen Wittrock recalls. Not long after I organized a concert with Svenne and Lotta, where we sold twice as many tickets! Svenne Hedlund was a singer in the band Hep Stars together with, among others, Benny Andersson, who was later part of ABBA. - ABBA did a good concert in Vejle, but the sales were disappointing, Wittrock recalls. In connection with the concert in Vejle ABBA stayed at Hotel Australia a spectacular and famous hotel in Vejle. The local newspaper Vejle Amts Folkeblad wrote: "Huge success for ABBA. With an international class show, the Swedish group takes the audience by storm." Organizer Knud Thorbjørnsen presented this concert in Copenhagen following a concert in Stockholm (Sweden) the evening before. 25 boys and girls all between 6 and 12 years from the Music school in Birkerød sang choir on "Thank you for the music" and "I have a dream". Press conference in Copenhagen for the LP "Waterloo", April 24th 1974

In connection with the release of the Waterloo LP in Denmark, EMI Denmark held a press conference at Discotek Bonaparte in Gothersgade in Copenhagen on April 24th, 1974. Jerry Ritz, who then worked for EMI, has told that he arranged a photo session in the nearby park Kongens Have (King's Garden). The four ABBA members did not know that Ritz had also hired "Napoleon" for the photo session. He came as a surprise slowly walking from Rosenborg Castle down to the entrance at Gothersgade/Christian IX's Gade. It caused a stir, says Jerry Ritz. One of the photos from the photo session in Kongens Have was subsequently used on the cover for the single "Honey Honey" in many countries. Jerry Ritz also remembers that some press photos were taken at Discoteque Bonaparte, where the four ABBA members danced in the disco. ABBA concert in Copenhagen (Falkonerteatret), Denmark on November 17th 1974

This concert in Copenhagen (Falkonerteatret) was the premiere on ABBAs 1974/1975 tour in Europe. The concert was sold out. Tour Manager was Hansi Schwarz, and the support musicians Beatmakers and equipment left Arlanda Airport Nov. 16th 1975 at 06.00 ( 6 a.m) , with the four ABBA members following 7 hours later.  A press conference took place at 16.00 (4 p.m.)  at Hotel Plaza in Copenhagen, where the group stayed during the Denmark visit. The tourmanager Hansi (Hans Carl) Schwarz became in 1961 member of the Västervik based folk group West Bay Singers which also included Björn Ulvaeus. Stikkan Andersson from Polar Music Records who signed West Bay Singers soon suggested a new name for the group: Hootenanny Singers. 06/04/2024 It’s slightly dizzying and deeply humbling to think that millions of you who saw us for the first time in the Eurovision final 1974 have passed our music on not only to one generation, but to several. We see evidence of that every time one of us visits ABBA Voyage in London and it’s because of this we can celebrate the 50th Anniversary of that event in the knowledge that our songs still resonate around the world. It’s difficult to comprehend that 50 years have gone by since the four of us waited backstage for the verdicts of all the juries around Europe at the Dome in Brighton. So what were our dreams during those suspenseful moments or in the chaos in the aftermath of the victory we had secured with the smallest margin in Eurovision history? Four different dreams, no doubt, but whatever they were, however grand, reality has surpassed them, that’s for sure.
